Dubai Launches Battery Swap Stations for E-Bike Delivery Riders

Dubai: RTA has confirmed the launch of a new plan to set up battery-swapping stations for electric delivery bikes at key locations across Dubai. The transport authority has partnered with Terra Tech Ltd., a regional startup company that has expertise in offering battery-swapping technology solutions. This project is a major step in achieving the goal of eco-friendly transport. 

This new service will not only improve convenience and reduce waiting time, but also support Dubai’s goals to promote sustainable transport. Delivery riders can quickly exchange empty batteries at these stations and continue their work without the need to take long breaks for charging. 

Battery Swap Project Aims to Support Green Deliveries in Dubai

Dubai battery swapping stations project aims to make the delivery transport sector more eco-friendly, as it is encouraging the use of zero-emission electric bikes. It is the first project of its kind, supporting green deliveries in the emirate. RTA has partnered with Terra Tech Ltd to develop a full system to support delivery companies. The new electric bike charging stations will meet the charging and daily operation needs of the businesses, helping them lower overall operational costs while supporting a cleaner future. 

RTA’s Licensing Agency CEO, Ahmed Mahboob, shared his thoughts on the battery swap stations project for e-bike delivery riders in Dubai. He said this project supports the 2030 Commercial & Logistics Land Transport Plan. The main goal of this plan is to reduce carbon emissions by 30% through new infrastructure development. Under this plan, electric bike battery swapping stations will be developed in 36 locations in the city to meet the needs of delivery companies. 

He further added that RTA’s partnership with the micro-mobility tech startup will help in creating new eco-friendly energy solutions. The solutions will make sure that Dubai is ready to adopt future technologies and operational needs. He also said this project will not only reduce emissions, but also lower noise pollution and improve service quality for both residents and citizens. Inviting businesses in the delivery and commercial sectors to partner with the authority in this initiative, he said, they are open to working together with more partners from these sectors for a more eco-friendly, cleaner, and efficient future.

Terra Tech Ltd’s CEO, Husam Al Zammar, shared his happiness about the Dubai battery swap stations project for e-bike delivery riders with the RTA.
