Dubai Set to Break Tourism Records with 9.88 Million Visitors in First Half of 2025

Dubai is one step closer to securing its position among the three most popular tourist destinations worldwide, as the DET announced that the emirate welcomed 9.88 million international visitors in the first half of 2025. The highest influx of international visitors was recorded in 2024, which was 18.72 million for the entire year. The previous record is now broken with a significant margin, indicating a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The authorities credited the increased DXB passenger traffic and international visitors influx in 2025 to strong government and public sector partnerships, smart international marketing, and a growing list of attractions in Dubai. According to the latest records, the average hotel occupancy in H1 2025 in the city is 80.6%, which was 78.7% at this time in the previous year. Occupied room nights grew to 22.4 million, indicating a 4% year-over-year rise, while the average daily rate is now AED 584, which grew 5%. 

Dubai Tourism Records Strongest Half-Year Performance in History

From January to June 2025, DXB Airport offered services to 46 million passengers, which strengthened the city’s status as the world’s busiest international airport. The major number of visitors recorded was from India, which shows the strong connectivity between the two countries. Smooth ground operations and effective baggage handling helped in managing the large influx of visitors. It is expected that DXB will handle 96 million passengers by the end of 2025, and a 100 million target can be achieved in the next year.

Among 9.88 million visitors in Dubai in the first half of 2025, the highest percentage of visitors were from CIS and Eastern Europe (15%) and the least were from Australasia (2%). The tourism sector is the main contributor to the city’s stable and strong economy, as it provides over 12% GDP support, and offers employment opportunities to millions of locals and expats living in the city. 

In the previous year, international visitors spent over USD 179.8 billion and domestic tourism contributed USD 205 billion based on reports.
