Dubai: Major efforts for safety and security by the governing authorities have been made in the gorgeous city of skyscrapers, which is all set to be the host of another extravagant New Year’s Eve celebration event. From fireworks at Burj Khalifa to a seven-countdown celebration at Global Village, New Year celebrations in Dubai are some of the most eagerly awaited events to witness by visitors across the globe.
Everything You Must Know About Dubai’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations
To ensure the smooth running of these extravagant events, the government authorities have made some important announcements and implemented several security measures. More than 10,000 security personnel will be deployed on the day of extravagant New Year’s Eve celebrations to ensure safety and secure an enjoyable experience for every visitor. Additionally, to efficiently and effectively address any emergency or accidental situation, 1,800 medical staff with over 200 ambulances will be provided by 10 hospitals.
Parking Facility
The city of skyscrapers’ Road and Transport Authority, has arranged 20,000 additional parking spaces for the convenience of the visitors coming to attend the extravagant New Year celebrations in the city. These parking spaces at prominent landmarks, including Dubai Mall, Zabeel, and Emaar Boulevard will ensure adequate parking spaces for the visitors.
Visitors are requested to use the parking facilities at metro stations at Jebel Ali, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Centrepoint, etc. They can also utilize parking spaces at Al Wasl Club, Al Kafif, and GDRFA parking lots. Convenience is further promised to the visitors by free shuttle bus service facilities that will take and drop visitors from these parking locations to the New Year’s Eve venue at Burj Khalifa. Additionally, public buses will also provide commute facilities from celebration areas to parking locations at metro stations, GDRFA, and others.
Free Access to Viewing Areas in Downtown Dubai
To ensure the utmost convenience and enjoyable experience for visitors, free public viewing areas in Downtown Dubai have been arranged. These free family-friendly spaces will allow visitors to witness the magnificent charm of Burj Khalifa’s fireworks display through LED screens that will be provided for free on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additionally, the committee has arranged dedicated areas for workers to enjoy a safe and memorable celebration.
Road Closures
To manage traffic during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the RTA will implement road closures on certain routes, including Burj Khalifa Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd. The following routes will be closed on December 31 after 4 PM.
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd route will be closed from 4 pm. So, visitors who have already made reservations in Downtown Dubai or Blvd areas are advised to reach there before closing time.
- Burj Khalifa, Al Asayel, Al Mustaqbal, and Al Sukook streets.
- Financial Road’s lower and upper levels will be closed from 4 pm and 9 pm, respectively.
- Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed gradually an hour before midnight.
Metro Timings
To ensure smooth accessibility of celebration areas by visitors the metro and trams in Dubai will run continuously for 43 hours and 24 hours, respectively. However, it must be noted that Dubai Mall Metro Station will not operate after 5 pm. The operating hours for the metro will be from 5 am (December 31, 2024) to midnight (January 1, 2025). For trams, there is an hour difference between the closing and opening hours (6 am to 1 am).
Major Locations for Fireworks Displays
The sky at 36 locations across the glittering city of the Emirates will be lit by colorful fireworks for a few minutes in 2025 to mark the beginning of the New Year. Among these locations, Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Dubai Frame are some of the major locations for fireworks displays. However, the other locations in the list are globally renowned hotels, resorts, and iconic landmarks that will allow visitors to celebrate New Year’s Eve extravagantly.
